What is lucid?
Brain-based support for burnout at work
We are an onsite clinic providing neuroscience and integrative counselling to help you feel clearer, steadier and more yourself at work and at home.
Lucid is a calm, confidential space at Discovery Park where you can step away from your desk, reset your nervous system, and make sense of what life is asking of you right now.

How lucid helps
Feel more steady:
Short brain stimulation sessions can gently lift mood and focus, making it easier to get through the day without feeling drained by the end of it
Think more clearly:
Person-centred counselling helps you untangle stress, perfectionism and pressure so you can rediscover clarity and regain a sense of choice instead of feeling trapped.
Set kinder boundaries:
Together we explore your patterns, values and needs so you can protect your energy without losing your ambition.
Support that fits work:
30‑minute sessions onsite mean you can get help in your working day.
What working with lucid looks like
1. We start with an informal chat with Viv (integrative, person‑centred therapist and Flow clinician) so we can understand your needs and check whether Lucid is the right fit.
2. If we go ahead, you attend a series of 30‑minute Flow headset sessions alongside regular counselling, usually over 3–12 weeks.
3. Towards the end, we review what has changed, what still needs attention, and whether ongoing check‑ins or a discounted headset of your own or for your team would be helpful.
Flow is a CE‑marked, medical grade tDCS (transcranial direct current stimulation) headset used in NHS and private services as an evidence‑based treatment for depression and low mood. It delivers a very gentle electrical current through small electrodes on the scalp while you sit awake and relaxed, aiming to support the brain areas involved in mood, focus and motivation.
During each 30‑minute session, the headset sends a low, steady current (around 2 mA) between the electrodes; this is not strong enough to make brain cells fire directly but can, over repeated sessions, help quiet areas become more active and over‑busy areas settle. People usually describe a mild tingling or warmth under the pads, and research and clinical use suggest that tDCS is generally well‑tolerated, with common minor side effects such as temporary skin redness, tingling or a slight headache in some users.
At Lucid, Flow is never used on its own. Each person has an assessment for suitability, and Flow sessions are always combined with integrative counselling and regular reviews so that brain stimulation, emotional processing and practical changes work together. This structured, time‑limited approach helps keep things safe, focused and measurable, rather than open‑ended.

How works

Who is lucid for?
• Individuals who notice signs of burnout, emotional numbness or loss of clarity.
• Individuals who want to stay sharp while maintaining a healthy work–life balance.
• Teams in fast‑paced science, tech and business environments who need a quiet, onsite space to reset and reflect.
Lucid is collaborative, personalised and gentle – you set the pace and we support you through the process.
What the evidence shows
• Flow has been tested in clinical studies and real‑world services, suggesting that regular tDCS sessions can reduce depressive symptoms and improve mood and concentration for many people.
• Thousands of users and several UK services now use Flow as part of wider care, with many reporting better day‑to‑day functioning when it is combined with lifestyle changes and psychological support.
Safety, scope and next steps
• Lucid offers wellbeing and performance support; it does not replace medical or crisis services.
• All clients are screened for suitability, must be over 18, and can stop the programme at any time.
• If you are under the care of a medical specialist , you might need to discuss Lucid with them first.
If you are curious but unsure, the best next step is a brief, no‑obligation conversation. We can explore what you are dealing with, and you can decide whether Lucid feels right for you or your team.
About the team

Viv
Viv is an integrative, person‑centred counsellor based at Discovery Park in Sandwich since 2022, offering a calm, down‑to‑earth space for adults to explore what is happening in their inner and outer worlds. Her background includes working with anxiety, low mood, work‑related stress, relationship difficulties and those times of transition when life feels particularly uncertain. Over recent years she has developed a particular interest in burnout and chronic workplace pressure, supporting people who feel they “should be coping” but instead find themselves exhausted, disconnected or on autopilot. In sessions, Viv slows the pace, listens closely and works alongside you to notice patterns, reconnect with what matters and make changes that protect both your wellbeing and your capacity to thrive at work and at home.
Viv is a trained Flow clinician and practitioner.

Beatrice
Beatrice is a trained Flow practitioner who offers practical support with the headset and helps you feel at ease during your sessions. She also looks after administration, bookings and payments, so the process feels as smooth and straightforward as possible.
